History

Auburndale Realty Company of Newton, Massachusetts was established in 1949 by The Nahigian Family. Mr. John M. Nahigian, a graduate of Harvard College in 1949, founded the firm in 1949 with his father. Auburndale Realty Co. is named after the Auburndale section of the City of Newton (pop. of 100,000), located approximately seven miles west of Boston (See picture of the original Auburndale along the Charles River and today's Boston).  

   

The company specialized in the leasing and management of rental apartments and sales of single family homes along the Route 128 beltway. The firm eventually became the largest apartment property management company in the City of Newton.

In 1960, Mr. Nahigian became one of the first real estate syndicators in the Boston area specializing in acquiring apartment complexes and condominium conversions. Auburndale Realty Co. expanded its developments from Boothbay Harbor, Maine to Martha's Vineyard and Tampa/Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. 

Mr. Robert J. Nahigian, FRICS, SIOR, CRE joined the firm in 1989 to give it an added dimension of industrial and office expertise. Our core business shifted since the mid-1990s to advisory and brokerage services for private and public corporations, investment partnerships, government agencies, nonprofit organizations and hi-net worth entrepreneurs. 

We represent clients of all sizes with office/industrial projects. As a small firm, clients are looking to us for immediate and individual attention, customized and specialized solutions to commercial real estate issues and complete confidentiality. 

We provide expert testimony services with many Boston area law firms on commercial real estate matters. We work with many regional companies on site selection, tenant representation and lease negotiations, investor  services analyzing repositioning of investment assets, establishing entrance and exit strategies in order to create wealth. We excel with projects that are challenging and require "imagineering" visionary solutions. And in a time frame that is immediate. 

The firm has expanded its clientele to include Boston area regional firms and Fortune 1000 companies locally and internationally. Through the firm's association with SIOR, CRE and FRICS, real estate services have expanded with affiliates and networking to over 1,000 cities worldwide with access to over 130,000 of the most elite recognized real estate experts internationally.
